Most commands in SPHERE are two characters long, the rest are four. Each menu item gives the name of the command with capital letters showing what CONGEN is looking for. The pointer to a node gives the node where information about the command can be found.

• ADD: Mark atoms to be added to the sphere list.
• AS: Automatic scale.
• BC: Set background color.
• CO: Set atom color.
• CS: Clear spheres list.
• DC: Define new color.
• DV: Set screen dimensions for a known device.
• END: Return to CONGEN.
• EXIT: Return to CONGEN.
• GLOS: Set glossiness exponent.
• HOME: Initialize sphere drawing.
• IMAGE: Make the image.
• IR: Input rotation matrix.
• LRAN: Set lighting range.
• LV: Set lighting direction.
• OC: Origin shift in centimeters.
• OD: Origin of data.
• OR: Set origin in units of the picture size.
• RADIUS: Set atomic radii.
• RC: Reset colors to default.
• RM: Unmark atoms to be added to the sphere list.
• RR: Reset radii to parameter file values.
• RS: Read Spheres from a file.
• SA: Scale in units of Angstroms/cm.
• SC: Multiply scale factor.
• SDCO: Set lighting coefficients.
• SFCO: Set accessible surface color.
• SFR: Set accessible surface radius.
• SH: Show transformation parameters.
• SL: Show lighting parameters.
• SO: Stereo Offset.
• SR: Show transformation parameters.
• TL: Set the title for the picture.
• TRANSFORM: Transform current selection of atoms.
• WI: Write image to a file.
• WS: Write spheres list to a file.
• XP: Set number of pixels in horizontal dimension.
• XR: Rotate picture about X axis.
• XS: Set horizontal screen size in centimeters.
• YP: Set number of pixels in vertical dimension.
• YR: Rotate picture about Y axis.
• YS: Set vertical screen size in centimeters.
• ZCUT: Set Z cutoff for sphere list construction.
• ZMARK: Mark atoms by Z coordinate.
• ZR: Rotate picture about Z axis.
